Two California men lost their lives in a recent accident which authorities suspect may have been caused by drunk driver.

When the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the alleged drunk driving crash, investigating officers placed a 42-year-old female motorist involved in the crash under arrest. She was speeding at the time of the accident. She suffered some minor injuries during the accident.

Her vehicle collided with the victim's Ford Explorer and the force of the impact was reportedly heavy enough to result in the overturning of both cars. The Ford Explorer continued to travel across two lanes of traffic on the highway before hitting the center divider and then coming to a rest upside down on its roof in the number 2 lane. The driver of the Buick was charged with having a loaded firearm in her car and suspected felony DUI.

The driver of the Ford Explorer managed to exit the vehicle, and was attempting to help his 25-year-old male passenger also exit when he was struck by a third vehicle, a 2005 Toyota Corolla, operated by a 35-year-old male motorist. This impact threw him in the westbound lanes of traffic. The Toyota Corolla also hit the rear of the Ford Explorer, killing the 25-year-old passenger, and inflicting minor injuries to a third occupant of the Explorer, a 33-year-old male. The driver of the Toyota Corolla also suffered some minor injuries.

This tragic accident is only the most recent example of the risks posed by drunk drivers.
